    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces additional reopenings starting May 14, 2021, at Corps-managed recreation areas along the Okeechobee Waterway that were closed in March 2020 to protect against the further spread of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).

  • USACE Increases Lake Okeechobee Releases to Caloosahatchee

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District will increase Lake Okeechobee releases at the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79) from the current 1,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 2,000 cfs beginning April 24.

  • Lake O sediment study release at S-308 postponed

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will postpone Lake Okeechobee releases planned for April 21 from the Port Mayaca Lock and Dam (S-308) to support a U.S. Geological Survey and South Florida Water Management District ongoing Lake Okeechobee sediment study.

  • Lake O sediment study releases scheduled for April 20-21

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will execute a temporary, minor deviation to the Lake Okeechobee Regulation Schedule April 20-21 as part of the ongoing study by the South Florida Water Management District and U.S. Geological Survey to find ways to indirectly measure sediment and nutrients transported from the lake to the estuaries.

  • USACE ends LORS deviation releases beginning April 10

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will end advance releases starting Saturday that it has been making under the Lake Okechobee Regulation Schedule Harmful Algal Bloom deviation. Releases to the Caloosahatchee will be reduced to 1,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) as measured at the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79) to provide the fresh water needed to maintain salinity levels in the estuary, and lake releases through the St. Lucie Lock and Dam (S-80) will stop completely.

  • South Bay Boat Ramp closed temporarily April 12 and 13 due to construction

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces that the boat ramp at the South Bay Recreation Area will be closed temporarily on Monday, April 12 and Tuesday, April 13, 2021, due to cutoff wall construction on the Herbert Hoover Dike.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District, announces that construction will begin soon for the Broward County Segment II shore protection renourishment project.

  • Corps to close courtesy dock at W.P. Franklin South Recreation Area for repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District will temporarily close the courtesy dock adjacent to the boat ramp at the W.P Franklin Lock and Dam South Recreation Area on the Caloosahatchee River near Alva, Florida, for repairs, until further notice.
