  • Jacksonville District to begin dredging of Intracoastal Waterway, Palm Valley North Reaches, reduces operations to one shift daily

    The Jacksonville District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, expects to begin dredging operations on the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) Palm Valley North Reaches next week.
  • St. Lucie Lock recreation area closes for Lock scheduled maintenance repairs

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the temporary closure of some recreational facilities at the St. Lucie Lock and Dam in advance of scheduled repairs. The St. Lucie Visitor Center, lock observation decks and the St. Lucie North Recreation Area will be closed effective immediately in preparation for upcoming major maintenance work in the area, and will remain closed until the project is complete. The dewatering and repairs to the St. Lucie Lock and Dam are scheduled to begin January 4 and the project is expected to be complete by April 2022.
  • Lake Okeechobee Releases Planned for December 2021 Sediment Study

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District plans to execute a two-day deviation Dec. 14-15 that will release water from the lake as part of an ongoing sediment study by the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) and the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). The releases will affect both the Julian Keen Lock and Dam (S-77) and the Port Mayaca Lock and Dam (S-308) as short bursts of water are released to support the study.
