  • Port Everglades maintenance dredging assessment is out for review

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces a draft environmental assessment and proposed finding of no significant impact for the operation and maintenance dredging and dredged material placement for the Port Everglades Navigation Project, Broward County. The draft information is available for public, state and agency review and comment starting today, Aug. 9, and ending Sept. 9, 2019.

  • Corps’ dredge Murden to emergency dredge shoaling in Martin County

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ dredge Murden arrived in Martin County Aug. 1 to dredge a problematic shoal creating a safety concern within the Crossroads reach of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW). The Corps requests recreationists slow down and use caution in this construction area. The Crossroads reach is where three federal channels come together -- the IWW, the Okeechobee Waterway and the St. Lucie Inlet.

  • Corps awards Horseshoe Cove dredging contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded a $2,067,025 contract Dec. 6 to dredge shoal material from Horseshoe Cove and the turning basin. The dredging will return this area to its authorized depth of six feet, with one foot of allowable over-depth.

  • Corps awards contract for U.S. Naval Station Kings Bay and Blount Island dredging

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded a $7,017,000.00 contract to Southern Dredging Co. Inc. of Charleston, South Carolina, for the maintenance dredging of U.S. Naval Station Kings Bay, Georgia, and Marine Corps Support Facility – Blount Island, Florida.

  • Intracoastal Waterway maintenance dredging at Bakers Haulover starts soon

    Bal Harbor Beach to benefit from problematic shoal! A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintenance dredging project within the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) Bakers Haulover area will start as early as Nov. 18. According to Corps IWW Project Manager Shelley Trulock, the Bakers Haulover reach is one of the top three shoaling areas along the entire IWW. "We have an opportunity to dredge the IWW and put sand on eroded beaches in Miami-Dade County at no cost to the local communities,” she said.
