    SARASOTA, Fla. (Oct. 17, 2024) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Operation Blue Roof Program contractors install first blue roof at a record-setting pace, one-week post-storm and one day after the issuance of the notice to proceed, in the wake of the aftermath of Hurricane Milton.
  • USACE Jacksonville District celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

    This year the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from the Jacksonville District observes National Hispanic Heritage Month from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, by commemorating, and honoring the many contributions Hispanic Americans have made to the U.S. Army, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Department of Defense and the nation. The contributions of American citizens whose ancestors came from Spain, Portugal, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central America, and South America. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District Deputy Commander, Maj. Matt Westcott and more than 70 employees attending the ceremony in person and virtually via WebEx celebrated Hispanic Americans with a luncheon and presentation by guest speakers Brenda Calvente and Misty Cunningham.  Both Corps employees from the Program and Projects Division.  Westcott thanked everyone for attending and said observances like this provides the opportunity to recognize and appreciate the contributions in each one of our Hispanic or Latino soldiers, Army civilians and family members. "I simply want to thank all of you for your dedication to It helps us focus on the core Army values we want to deliver every day, which is loyalty, duty, selfless service, integrity and personal courage," said Westcott. "These all continue to serve as a guide to help us understand and celebrate diversity that provides us a common unity."

    USACE, SFWMD begins implementation of schedule adjustments intended to restore hydrologic conditions within Kissimmee River Basin

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- (Aug. 14, 2024) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District in coordination with the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) begins implementation of the Increment one Planned Temporary Deviation to the Interim Regulation Schedule for Lakes Kissimmee, Hatchineha and Cypress (Lakes KHC), which includes adjustments to the regulation schedule for these lakes.

    USACE celebrates completion of Caloosahatchee C-43 Reservoir Pump Station

    HENDRY COUNTY, Fla.  -  (Dec. 19, 2023) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District (USACE) joined federal, state and local officials to celebrate the completion of a new pump station for the Caloosahatchee (C-43) Reservoir Project today. The C-43 Reservoir, once completed, will hold approximately 170,000 acre-feet of water (55 billion gallons) and is part of the state-federal Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) to restore the environment and make our water resources more resilient.

    It was a typical site visit to view progress on a local beach restoration project – until it wasn’t. U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District employees Lindsay Brantley, Jennifer Tyler, and Brooke Warlitner were traveling along an access road toward Summer Haven to view a beach disposal site when the convoy of vehicles in front of them suddenly began to stop.

The S-709 Pump Station, a component of the L31 Flow-Way, is complete and will contribute to the restoration of Biscayne Bay.

    USACE creates project Task Force VIPR for Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico

Task Force U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico (Task Force VIPR) was created to organize and prioritize the demand of construction projects throughout the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
