  • USACE awards large, foundational construction contract for CEPP EAA A-2 Reservoir

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District, awarded the second Corps construction contract for the Central Everglades Planning Project Everglades Agricultural Area (CEPP EAA) Phase Reservoir, a key component of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). This contract is for the Foundation and Cutoff Wall features of the CEPP EAA A-2 Reservoir located in Palm Beach County, Florida.

  • USACE announces public comment on proposed seepage barrier wall in the 8.5 Square Mile Area as part of the Central Everglades Planning Project (New Water Phase)

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed construction of a 5-mile-long seepage barrier wall in the L-357W levee at the 8.5 Square Mile Area (8.5 SMA), Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Corps is also evaluating a request from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to modify the Modified Waters Deliveries to Everglades National Park Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408 to construct the 5-mile-long seepage barrier wall in the 8.5 SMA. Improved seepage management would allow for greater operational flexibility of the Central and Southern Florida Project. Comments are due September 12, 2022.   • USACE seeks comments on supplemental EA to incorporate L-67C backfill treatments into CEPP South Phase

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for incorporation of backfill treatments constructed in the L-67C Canal associated with the Installation, Testing, and Monitoring of a Physical Model for the Water Conservation Area (WCA 3) Decompartmentalization and Sheetflow Enhancement Project, known as the “Decomp Physical Model” into the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) (South Phase). Comments are due Feb. 23, 2022.

The construction projects include the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands, Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) South, and Picayune Strand Restoration Projects, which are components of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).
