JACKDONVILLE, Florida -- U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, in coordination with its non-federal sponsor, the City of St. Augustine, will initiate a series of semi-annual workshops devoted to the St. Augustine, Florida, Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study.
The first semi-annual event will take place Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2023, at The Alcazar Room, 75 King Street, St. Augustine, 32084, beginning at 6:30 p.m. All members of the public are encouraged to attend; no pre-registration is necessary.

The feasibility study is designed to develop, evaluate and recommend solutions that address flooding in the nation’s oldest city, including the historic district and diverse neighborhoods within the city limits.
USACE and city representatives will open the workshop with an updated study presentation followed by an open workshop forum. Corps technical team members will be available to address questions related to engineering, environmental and economic particulars focused on the three major model reaches currently under consideration: Davis Shore Peninsula, the Downtown Peninsula and Western San Sebastian.
The public are requested to provide information regarding their past flooding experience, concerns and suggestions, and comments will be collected for review and consideration as the study progresses. The workshop will conclude with an open forum question and answer segment.

7-8 p.m.: Open Workshop session with public, Corps technical team and sponsor
