Jacksonville District to conduct public presentation, discussion of the Revised Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement for Port Everglades Harbor Improvements project March 8

Jacksonville, Fla. (Feb. 23, 2022) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will conduct two public, virtual presentations and discussions of its recently published Revised Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (RDSEIS) for the Port Everglades Harbor Improvements project on March 8, 2022.

The authorized plan for the Port Everglades, Florida, project consists of deepening and widening various components within Port Everglades Harbor to increase navigational safety and efficiency, and includes a reconfiguration of the U.S. Coast Guard Station Fort Lauderdale.

The virtual presentations will be conducted at 3 p.m. and at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, March 8. Each will consist of a presentation of the changes in this RDSEIS since the 2022 DSEIS by a panel of Corps experts and will be followed by ample time for public questions and comment. Interested individuals must register in advance to received log-on information for the presentations.

The RDSEIS was published for public review and comment Feb. 4, 2022. The RDSEIS and supporting documentation are available on the district website at https://www.saj.usace.army.mil/About/Divisions-Offices/Planning/Environmental-Branch/Environmental-Documents/. Scroll down to Broward County and click on the [+] to open another page. Then scroll down to the bottom of the list to find the RDSEIS and its supporting documents.

Comments must be received by March 21, 2022, for consideration.

Comments should be submitted via email to porteverglades@usace.army.mil. They may also be sent by post to the address below; however, due to COVID-19 impacts on staffing, email is highly preferred.
