San Juan, Puerto Rico – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an Industry Day webinar to provide an update to the ongoing supplemental projects funded by Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 in Puerto Rico.

The event will take place online, Tuesday, May 21, 2019 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.

All interested members of industry can register and view the webinar access information at https://usace-industrydaypr.eventbrite.com

The Corps will discuss flood risk reduction projects located throughout Puerto Rico, including Rio de Plata, Rio Grande de Loiza, Rio Grande de Arecibo, Rio Guanajibo at Mayaguez and Rio Nigua at Salinas. Work includes channel improvements, levee construction, relocating infrastructure such as bridges and road ramps, mitigation, and much more.

Public Law 115-123, referred to as the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, provides funding and authority for the Corps to address impacts caused by natural disasters. The law emphasizes states and territories impacted by hurricanes’ Harvey, Irma and Maria, and allocates more than $2.5 billion for projects in Puerto Rico. These projects will help reduce future risk to hundreds of communities adversely impacted by storm events.
