Volunteers will plant 3,000 native trees on 8.5 acres of open land on National Public Lands Day to reforest this open area at the W.P. Franklin Lock as part of an Engineering with Nature project, to reduce the need for mowing, provide a diverse habitat for plants and animals, and provide recreational trails through a hardwood hammock habitat.
