All four segments were completely renourished between November 2019 and April 2020 using Bi-Partisan Budget Act of 2018 (BBA18) Supplemental funding as a result of impacts encountered due to Hurricane Irma in 2017. The Jupiter/Carlin segment consisted of placing approximately 422,000 cubic yards (cy) of material between November 2019 and January 2020.  The Ocean Ridge segment consisted of placing approximately 464,000 cy of material in March 2020. The Delray Beach segment consisted of placing approximately 365,000 cy of material between January and March 2020. The North Boca Raton segment consisted of placing approximately 564,000 cy of material between January and April 2020.

A Section 934 (WRDA 1996) report for the Jupiter/Carlin segment was completed by the Corps in August 2018 and was approved by ASA (CW) in July 2019. The Section 934 Report will extend federal participation to 2045. The Corps and Palm Beach County executed Project Partnership Agreement (PPA) Amendment No. 1 on December 12, 2022, to incorporate the extension.

The Corps and Palm Beach County executed PPA Amendment No.1 for the Delray Beach segment on October 14, 2022, to incorporate a 6-year extension of Federal participation from 2023 to 2029 under WRDA 2018.

Each sponsor reported impacts to the Palm Beach County segments in December 2022 following Hurricane Nicole’s landfall in November 2022. The Corps, Jacksonville District prepared Project Information Reports for the segments to determine Flood Control and Coastal Emergencies (FCCE) eligibility under Public Law 84-99. The North Boca Raton and Jupiter/Carlin segments did not qualify for an FCCE beach nourishment. The Delray Beach and Ocean Ridge segments qualified for an FCCE nourishment and received appropriations under the Disaster Relief Supplemental Appropriations Act. Plans and specifications are being prepared in FY24 and FY25 for a full-template beach renourishment of each segment. The Corps anticipates awarding one construction contract for both segments in late FY25, and construction is planned in late 2025/early 2026.
