1. DESCRIPTION
Mile Point consists of approximately 5,000 feet of shoreline located along the north shore of the St. Johns River and east of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW). Great Marsh Island and the Mile Point Training Wall divide Chicopit Bay. The confluence of the St. Johns River with the IWW is known as Mile Point and is an area that experiences difficult crosscurrents on the ebb tide.

4. STATUS
All construction efforts were successfully completed in February 2021. The project is working as designed and as such, the St. Johns Bar Pilots have removed all draft restrictions for the federal channel in this area. The newly created Great Marsh Island restoration area (beneficial use of dredged material) is thriving with new aquatic wildlife and plant species. Fiscal closeout and the return of non-federal funds will be completed by 31 December 2023.
