1. DESCRIPTION
Jacksonville Harbor is located in Duval County, Florida, and begins at the mouth of the St. Johns River where it empties into the Atlantic Ocean. The federally authorized Jacksonville Harbor navigation project provides deep draft vessels access to terminal facilities located within the city of Jacksonville, Florida.
The project, as currently authorized, provides for annual operations & maintenance of an existing channel depth of 47 feet mean lower low water (MLLW) from the ocean entrance to the Dames Point Terminals at River Mile 13, then 40 feet MLLW through River Mile 20 and 34 feet MLLW in Cuts F/G of the West Blount Island Channel. The project also includes routine maintenance of two dredge material management areas (DMMAS) at Bartram and Buck Islands.

4. STATUS
The FY24 maintenance dredging was awarded 22 Dec 23 to the Dutra Group. This consolidated contract will include dredging shoal material at Naval Station Mayport in addition to Jacksonville Harbor with beneficial placement of the Jacksonville federal channel material on NS Mayport Beach. Dredging efforts are scheduled to commence Apr 24 with overall completion Oct 24. PED efforts for the FY25 maintenance dredging contract are underway with BCOES Certification tracking 12 Sep 24.
