4. STATUS

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) has completed a Dredge Readiness and Operations Plan (DROP) as a planning tool for the 160-mile Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW), which outlines maintenance dredging locations and anticipated completion timeframes for identified dredging priorities over the next 15 years. The DROP also highlights locations where local inlet dredging with beneficial reuse of material and coupled with local beach nourishment schedules can be optimized. Funding was not received in 2022 for Operation and Maintenance (O&M) dredging. If funding is received in FY 2024, dredging will occur within the top 4 shoaling areas of the waterway.
