Broward County Segment III Shore Protection Project

SPONSOR: Broward County

AUTHORIZATION: Flood Control and Coastal Emergency (FCCE) Rehabilitation under Public Law 84-99

ESTIMATED PROJECT COST: $37.3 Million

FUNDING: 100% Federal

LOCATION: Broward County, including Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, Dania Beach, and Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park

DESCRIPTION: The contractor will place approximately 800,000 to 900,000 cubic yards of beach-quality sand from an upland mine along approximately 7 miles of eroded Atlantic Ocean shoreline in southern Broward County, between the South Jetty of Port Everglades Inlet and the Miami-Dade County line, including the municipalities of Hallandale Beach, Hollywood, and Dania Beach, and within Dr. Von D. Mizell-Eula Johnson State Park.

A Public Meeting to discuss the project will be held at the Cultural Community Center, 410 SE 3rd St, Hallandale Beach on Thursday, October 26th at 6pm.  The meeting will also be broadcast live on Facebook here: Beach Renourishment Meeting 10/26/23.
