  • Jacksonville District is preparing a National Environmental Policy Act assessment for the C-44 Reservoir/Stormwater Treatment Area Project Final Project Operating Manual

    U. S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District is preparing a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessment for the C-44 Reservoir/Stormwater Treatment Area Project (C-44R/STA) Final Project Operating Manual (POM). The C-44R/STA is a component of the Indian River Lagoon-South (IRL-S) Project under the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). The project was authorized in Section 1001(14) of the Water Resources Development Act of 2007, Public Law 110-114 and Section 8401(6)2. of the Water Resources Development Act of 2022, Public Law 117-3263. The purpose of the C-44R/STA is to capture and attenuate freshwater flows to the St. Lucie Estuary (SLE) and provide treatment of water prior to release into the estuary.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has extended the public comment period for its proposed development of an Interim Operations Plan for the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) A-2 Stormwater Treatment Area (A-2 STA) from Jan. 31 until Feb. 14, 2024.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, will conduct two public meetings to present and discuss its Key Biscayne Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Feasibility Study for residents and interested parties.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District invites Project Delivery Team members, stakeholders, partners, and members of the public to attend a virtual Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meeting for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Project study on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
  • USACE hosting a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) meeting for the WERP Draft PIR/EIS

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will be hosting a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) meeting for the Western Everglades Restoration Project (WERP) Draft Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement (PIR/EIS) on Jan.17, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) station, Southwest Florida Research & Education Center, 2685 State Road 29 North in Immokalee, FL. The virtual only meeting will be January 18, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The link and call-in information is listed below. The USACE / South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) team will provide an overview of the project and contents of the Draft Report. An “Open House” style question/answer period will follow the formal comment period where USACE and SFWMD staff will be able to interact with attendees.
