Public meetings scheduled for draft environmental report on State’s EAA Southern Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District (Corps), will host a series of public meetings to discuss and seek input on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the South Florida Water Management (SFWMD) District Section 203 Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Southern Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area (STA) study the week of June 25, from 6-8 p.m. in Lehigh Acres, Clewiston, and Stuart.

2018 work-plan includes $143 million for projects in Florida and Puerto Rico

The $1.7 billion work-plan for Fiscal Year 2018 Civil Works appropriations, released by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers June 11, includes $143 million for Jacksonville District’s continuing navigation, flood and coastal storm damage reduction and aquatic ecosystem restoration projects in Florida and Puerto Rico.

Big Fishweir Creek Aquatic Ecosystem Restoration Project agreement signed

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District commander signed a project partnership agreement with the City of Jacksonville for the Big Fishweir Creek Aquatic Restoration project June 7. With the signed agreement, the project now moves into the design and permitting phase.

USACE to begin water releases from Lake Okeechobee

Fort Pierce Shore Protection Project progress update

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced that additional sand placement will require dredging operations related to the Fort Pierce Shore Protection Project to continue until May 31 – with demobilization activities occurring into mid-June.

Clearwater Pass maintenance dredging begins soon

Maintenance dredging of Clearwater Pass in Pinellas County is scheduled to begin May 5 and will take an estimated 35 days to complete. The project includes dredging within the federal navigation channel at Clearwater Pass to previously authorized depths in the entrance channel, from the bridge to the junction with the Gulf Intracoastal Waterway, and also branching into Clearwater Harbor.

Corps awards maintenance dredging contract for Jacksonville Harbor

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a maintenance dredging contract for the Jacksonville Harbor. Work includes maintenance dredging 38- and 40-foot projects, Cut-7 through Cut -45, Cut-55, Cut-G, and the Lower Terminal Channel, in Duval County.
