  • Two Jacksonville District engineers recognized nationally

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the selection of two of its engineers as 2017 national award recipients. The Society of American Military Engineers, which leads collaborative efforts to identify and resolve national security infrastructure-related challenges, selected Laureen Borochaner, chief of Engineering Division at the District, as the 2017 Wheeler Medal Award Winner. The U.S. Army Engineer Regiment selected Dan Blaydes as the 2017 Engineer Regiment Civilian of the Year Award recipient.
  • Corps accepts public comment through March 31 regarding temporary lock closure

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District will accept public comment through March 31 regarding the temporary closure of the Ortona Lock in scheduled for June. The Corps has been accepting public comments on the proposal to temporarily close the Ortona Lock along the Okeechobee Waterway in south Florida for maintenance and repairs since the end of January.
  • Public invited to Pinellas County beach renourishment meeting

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and representatives from Pinellas County will host a public meeting on the Pinellas County Beach renourishment project Wednesday, March 28 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Indian Shores Municipal Facility.
  • Corps awards contract for U.S. Naval Station Kings Bay and Blount Island dredging

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded a $7,017,000.00 contract to Southern Dredging Co. Inc. of Charleston, South Carolina, for the maintenance dredging of U.S. Naval Station Kings Bay, Georgia, and Marine Corps Support Facility – Blount Island, Florida.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers extends expedited emergency permitting procedures in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District extended expedited emergency permitting procedures in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands to support the continued recovery efforts following Hurricane Maria. These alternative procedures remain in effect until June 21, 2018.
  • USACE awards seepage barrier contract as part of dike rehabilitation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District has awarded a contract to construct several miles of seepage barrier at the Herbert Hoover Dike (HHD) as part of its ongoing rehabilitation project for the earthen structure that surrounds Lake Okeechobee.
