Corps of Engineers deploys dredge to provide navigation relief from storms

The Army Corps of Engineers deployed their dredging vessel, the CURRITUCK, to Florida in February 2017 to provide relief to small inlets and waterways clogged by recent storms. The CURRITUCK will travel to the east and the west coasts of Florida before moving north in mid-April.

Corps asks boaters to SLOW DOWN, use caution

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers asks boaters to slow down and use extra caution within the Mile Point construction area on the St. Johns River. “We’ve seen some close calls here on the water because people are speeding through the area,” said Corps Construction Project Engineer Mike Lyons, Jacksonville District.

Contract awarded for St. Augustine Inlet dredging project

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced today that a contract was awarded to Southwind Construction Corps in the amount of $2.3 million for maintenance dredging of the St. Augustine Inlet.

Intracoastal Waterway project completed

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has completed work on a $6 million project, funded by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) of 2009, to restore a portion of the Intracoastal Waterway to its authorized dimensions and prepare for future maintenance dredging events.
