  • USACE announces public comment on proposed construction of the SW 87th Ave. Bridge in Palmetto Bay pursuant to Section 408

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact for the proposed construction of the SW 87th Avenue Bridge over the C-100 Canal in Palmetto Bay in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The USACE, in response to a request from the South Florida Water Management District on behalf of the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works is evaluating a modification to the Central and Southern Florida Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408. Comments are due June 8, 2023.

  • USACE announces public comment on proposed improvements to the Golden Glades Interchange pursuant to Section 408

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District announces a 15-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for proposed improvements to the Golden Glades Interchange bridges and other infrastructure on the Biscayne (C-8) Canal in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The USACE, in response to a request from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), is evaluating a modification to the Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408 to make improvements to the Golden Glades Interchange. Comments are due Wednesday, May 18, 2023.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District invites Project Delivery Team members, stakeholders, partners, and members of the public to attend a virtual Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meeting for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Project study on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m., AND requests RSVPs for In-Person (Hybrid) back-to-back PDT Meetings Thursday, April 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Friday, April 28, 2023 from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., at the South Florida Water Management District Headquarters at 3301 Gun Club Road in West Palm Beach.

  • USACE and SFWMD announce four virtual workshops in February for development of C&SF Flood Resiliency Study alternatives

    The Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the South Florida Water Management District will host a series of four virtual workshops in February as part of the C&SF Flood Resiliency Study. Each workshop is a standalone session that will focus on development of preliminary alternatives for one of the planning reaches discussed at the planning charrettes held on January 11 and 12. Each session will also include a recap of the problems, opportunities, objectives, and constraints collaboratively developed on the first day of the planning charrette. The management measures and conceptual ideas developed for each planning reach on day 2 of the charrettes held in January will provide the starting point for preliminary alternative development. Series of Four Virtual Workshops for Development of Alternatives for the C&SF Flood Resiliency Study in February Session 1 - Reach A: Broward and Hillsboro Basins: Wednesday, February 15, 2023, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Session 2 – Reach B: Little River and Nearby Basins: Wednesday, February 15, 2023, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Session 3 - Reach C: Miami River and Nearby Basins: Thursday, February 16, 2023, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. Session 4 – Reach D: South Miami Basins: Friday, February 17, 2023, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District invites Project Delivery Team members, stakeholders, partners, and members of the public to attend a virtual Project Delivery Team Meeting for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration Project study on Feb. 1, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m.

  • USACE announces two Public NEPA Scoping Meetings on Nov. 28 and extends public comment on New C&SF Flood Resiliency Study to Dec. 7

    USACE invites the participation of Federal and state agencies, Native American Tribes, local agencies, and interested stakeholders in providing comments and identifying any issues or concerns. Two virtual Public NEPA Scoping Meetings will be held on Monday, November 28. The first will be held from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., and the second will be held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The meetings will include a short presentation about the study and the NEPA process, followed by a comment period to receive feedback on the flood risk problems, including what is important to stakeholders when we look at the problems and potential solutions. The NEPA Scoping comment period is being extended through Wednesday December 7, 2022, to allow additional time due to the effects of Hurricane Nichole and the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday.

  • USACE announces BBSEER Project Delivery Team Meeting on June 30

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meeting for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Project Study on Thursday, June 30, 2022, from 1 to 3 p.m. “The purpose of this Project Delivery Team Meeting is to review model assumptions for the existing condition and future without project baselines prior to completing development and modeling in the Regional Simulation Model. The model assumptions were developed by the Interagency Modeling Center in collaboration with the BBSEER plan formulation and model subteams. The existing condition and future without project baselines will be used to measure the performance of the alternative plans. BBSEER alternative plans are intended to restore freshwater flows to terrestrial and coastal wetlands in Biscayne Bay and the Southeastern Everglades,” said April Patterson, BBSEER Senior Project Manager. “We appreciate the continued engagement of the interagency Project Delivery Team and members of the public during the planning phase of this complex project. Your participation during our extended meetings and workshops, your input, local knowledge, expertise and shared data are absolutely critical to the development and success of this project.”
