U.S. Army Corps of Engineers issues Draft Feasibility Report and Integrated Environmental Assessment for the Cape Canaveral Wastewater Treatment Facility

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (Jan. 8, 2025) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District has issued a draft Integrated Feasibility Report and Environmental Assessment for the Cape Canaveral Wastewater Treatment Facility, Continuing Authorities Program (CAP) Section 14 Emergency Shoreline Protection Project, for public and agency review.

Corps suspends operations at navigation locks

With Hurricane Ian set to make landfall in Florida, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, is suspending its operations at the five lock and dam structures on the Okeechobee Waterway and at the Canaveral Lock.

Corps completes repairs at Canaveral Lock

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District has completed construction of new composite guide walls around Canaveral Lock located between the western turning basin of Port Canaveral and the Banana River. The Corps reduced operating hours to allow contractors space so they could safely build the walls. Completion of the work allows the Corps to resume locking vessels on demand between 6 a.m. and 9:30 p.m. seven days a week.
