    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces a Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meeting, to be held Thursday, June 17, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and LOSOM PDT Technical Workshops on Tuesday, June 22 and Wednesday, June 30 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • USACE adjusts Lake Okeechobee Releases to Caloosahatchee

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District will reduce Lake Okeechobee releases at the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79) from the current 2,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) to 1,500 cfs beginning May 15. The releases will also change from a steady flow to a pulse release to flush the lower end of the system, raise salinities, and help combat the formation of algae.

  • USACE begins releases to St. Lucie March 6

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will begin 500 cubic feet per second (cfs) pulse releases from the St. Lucie Lock and Dam (S-80) beginning Saturday, March 6, as part of a planned deviation approved in September 2020 to reduce the risk of large lake releases during the rainy season when harmful algal blooms are more likely to be present.
