    ALVA, Fla. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District invites the public to participate in a day of service at the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam South Recreation Area near Alva during National Pollinator Week, on Saturday, June 24, from 7:30 a.m. through 4 p.m. The Corps is looking for 100 or more volunteers of all ages, for any amount of time, to plant nearly 9,000 Florida native pollinator wildflowers and grasses.
  • USACE increases target flows from Lake Okeechobee to the Caloosahatchee Estuary

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District will increase releases from Lake Okeechobee to the Caloosahatchee River Estuary beginning Saturday, June 10. The releases to the Caloosahatchee River Estuary will target a pulse release at a 7-day average of 2,000 cubic feet per second (cfs) from the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79). This is a slight increase from the 1,800 cfs targeted pulse release that has been in effect since April 15. Since this target is measured at the W.P. Franklin Lock and Dam (S-79), it includes local basin runoff and may require flows at S-79 to temporarily go above the target release to maintain flood control along the C-43 Canal.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a Virtual Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meeting for Combined Operational Plan (COP) Implementation on Wednesday, June 21, from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. “The purpose of this Project Delivery Team Meeting is to provide our partners, stakeholders and the public an update on the implementation of the Combined Operational Plan and Adaptive Management in the southern part of our Central and Southern Florida system, and to discuss the future of COP as we transition to CEPP,” said Project Manager Jonathan Jenkins.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact for the proposed construction of the SW 87th Avenue Bridge over the C-100 Canal in Palmetto Bay in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The USACE, in response to a request from the South Florida Water Management District on behalf of the Miami-Dade County Department of Transportation and Public Works is evaluating a modification to the Central and Southern Florida Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408. Comments are due June 8, 2023.

  • USACE announces public comment on proposed alum treatment system for C-43 West Basin Storage Reservoir pursuant to Section 408

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the approval of construction of an aluminum sulfate (alum) treatment system during the construction of the authorized C-43 West Basin Storage Reservoir (WBSR) in Hendry County, Florida. The Corps is evaluating the request from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to modify the C-43 WBSR Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408. Comments are due June 5, 2023.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District announces a 15-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for proposed improvements to the Golden Glades Interchange bridges and other infrastructure on the Biscayne (C-8) Canal in Miami-Dade County, Florida. The USACE, in response to a request from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) on behalf of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), is evaluating a modification to the Central and Southern Florida (C&SF) Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408 to make improvements to the Golden Glades Interchange. Comments are due Wednesday, May 18, 2023.

Comments are due Wednesday, May 24, 2023.
