  • Round Island Park Oceanside to close May 15

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is conducting a Remedial Investigation at the former Fort Pierce Naval Amphibious Training Base. As a result, Round Island Park Oceanside to include the beach access, will be closed on Wednesday, May 15. Crews will be digging in the area and a safety zone will be established. People are requested to stay out of the safety zone while crews are working.
  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers publishes public notice for proposed Port Tampa Bay expansion

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District has published a public notice for the proposed Port Tampa Bay expansion project. The permit applicant proposes to expand existing port facilities (and associated dredging) to accommodate additional demand for deep-water cargo service in the Port Tampa Bay area. Since the proposed work includes impacts to water bodies that are under jurisdiction of the Corps of Engineers, the applicant is required by the Clean Water Act to obtain a Department of the Army permit.
  • Corps seeks public comment regarding water use for navigation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District is seeking public comment regarding the use of waters within the State of Florida for navigation. The comment period closes April 18.
  • Environmental report on proposed dike repairs available for review

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District has released an environmental report for public review on its proposal for additional embankment repairs on Herbert Hoover Dike surround Lake Okeechobee. The report, known as an environmental assessment and draft finding of no significant impact focuses on a Corps proposal to extend embankment repairs in a six-mile area between Lake Harbor and Belle Glade on the south side of the lake. The document will be available for a 60-day review, with comments accepted until May 10.
