Navigation Notice: USACE Jacksonville District Closes Julian Keen Lock due to vegetation

The Julian Keen Lock and Dam is experiencing a large floating debris island blocking the Lake side approach, which is causing a Hazard to Navigation.  Currently it is blocking the entire approach and the Lock is closed. 

This could cause long, unscheduled lock closures until it has been cleared from the channel.

The South Florida Operations Office advises all vessels to monitor the Jacksonville District website for any changes or updates as rising lake levels and changes in wind direction will continue to move vegetation and may cause further disruptions to navigation.
