U.S. ARMY CORPS OF ENGINEERS, JACKSONVILLE DISTRICT -- San Juan, Puerto Rico – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host an Industry Day webinar to provide an update to the ongoing supplemental projects funded by Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018 in Puerto Rico.
The event will take place online, Wednesday, February 26, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Corps will discuss flood risk reduction projects located throughout Puerto Rico, including Rio Puerto Nuevo, San Juan; Rio de Plata, Dorado; Rio Grande de Arecibo, Arecibo; Rio Nigua, Salinas; Rio Guanajibo, Mayaguez and Rio Grande de Loiza, Caguas, among others. Work includes channel improvements, levee construction, relocating infrastructure such as bridges and road ramps, mitigation, and much more.
Public Law 115-123, referred to as the Bipartisan Budget Act of 2018, provides funding and authority for the Corps to address impacts caused by natural disasters. The law emphasizes states and territories impacted by hurricanes’ Harvey, Irma and Maria, and allocates more than $2.5 billion for projects in Puerto Rico. These projects will help reduce future risk to hundreds of communities adversely impacted by storm events.
