  • Jacksonville District pumps eroded section of St. Augustine beachfront using federal emergency funds, post Debby

    ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, has begun pumping eroded sections of St. Augustine Beach north, south and underneath the St. Johns County Ocean Pier, Saturday, Aug. 10-11, 2024 to replace eroded sand when Hurricane Debby passed through Florida.

  • Jacksonville District making repairs to City of Venice south jetty through Friday

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, has begun executing several days of minor repairs along the southern jetty system at Venice Inlet; repair work is expected to complete by Friday, July 25, 2024.

  • USACE Jacksonville District issues scoping letter for the Central Everglades Planning Project North Phase

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, is preparing a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessment to support design refinements being considered in the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) North Phase Validation Study. The purpose of the CEPP North Phase Validation Study is to confirm project components, construction sequencing, and project dependencies as described in the 2014 CEPP Final Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement (PIR/EIS) and Chief's Report. In addition, the Validation Study will also validate that the proposed design refinements are necessary for the CEPP North project components to function as originally intended and determine if the refinements require additional NEPA.     U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, will begin mobilization for the renourishment of the St. Johns Co., Vilano Beach, Coastal Storm Risk Management project on Monday, Aug. 7, 2023.

  • USACE seeks public comment for proposed maintenance dredging and material placement for the Miami Harbor Navigation Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) seeks public comment for its proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) and draft Environmental Assessment (EA) for maintenance dredging and dredged material placement for the Miami Harbor Navigation Project at Port Miami, in Miami-Dade County, Florida. Public comments must be received by Oct. 19, 2022 for consideration.

  • USACE announces public comment on proposed seepage barrier wall in the 8.5 Square Mile Area as part of the Central Everglades Planning Project (New Water Phase)

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the proposed construction of a 5-mile-long seepage barrier wall in the L-357W levee at the 8.5 Square Mile Area (8.5 SMA), Miami-Dade County, Florida. The Corps is also evaluating a request from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to modify the Modified Waters Deliveries to Everglades National Park Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408 to construct the 5-mile-long seepage barrier wall in the 8.5 SMA. Improved seepage management would allow for greater operational flexibility of the Central and Southern Florida Project. Comments are due September 12, 2022.   • Federal and State Partners Celebrate CEPP South Groundbreaking

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District hosted a groundbreaking ceremony today at the S-333 water control structure in western Miami-Dade County, bringing together members of the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force to celebrate the first contract for the Central Everglades Planning Project, a project designed to improve flows south to Everglades National Park.

  • Corps awards $81 million in construction contracts for Everglades restoration

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District, awarded four construction contracts for ecosystem restoration in south Florida in the past week, valued at more than $81 million. The construction projects include the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands, Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) South, and Picayune Strand Restoration Projects, which are components of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP).
