  • USACE & FIND host the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway boat tour

    On May 1, 2024, members of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District, joined by partners from the Florida Inland Navigation District (FIND), U.S. Coast Guard, and various stakeholders, embarked on the vessel named Florida II to conduct inspections along segments of the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterways (IWW). While unconventional, the ship provided an invaluable setting for decision-makers to witness firsthand the environmental areas under discussion and foster relationships among stakeholders.
  • USACE Jacksonville District issues scoping letter for the Central Everglades Planning Project North Phase

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, is preparing a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessment to support design refinements being considered in the Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) North Phase Validation Study. The purpose of the CEPP North Phase Validation Study is to confirm project components, construction sequencing, and project dependencies as described in the 2014 CEPP Final Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement (PIR/EIS) and Chief's Report. In addition, the Validation Study will also validate that the proposed design refinements are necessary for the CEPP North project components to function as originally intended and determine if the refinements require additional NEPA.     The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announces the availability of a proposed Finding of No Significant Impact, draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and associated appendices for periodic beach and dune renourishment along 7,000 feet of shoreline extending southward from Fort Pierce Inlet’s south jetty between Florida Department of Environmental Protection’s Range-monuments R-34 and R-41.

    USACE Jacksonville District awarded a $27 million contract May 2, 2024, to Weeks Marine, Inc., of Cranford, New Jersey, for initial construction of the Flagler County, Florida, Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) shore protection project.

    Lt. Gen. Scott A. Spellmon, 55th Chief of Engineers and Commanding General of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, signed the Chief’s Report April 18, 2024, for the Ponte Vedra Beach Coastal Storm Risk Management Study Report in a ceremony at USACE Headquarters in Washington, D.C.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act, is issuing this Notice of Availability of the Draft Supplemental Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for Partial Funding to Additional Water Quality Improvements, Key Largo Wastewater Treatment District, a component of the Florida Keys Water Quality Improvement Program.
