  • Two Jacksonville District engineers recognized nationally

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the selection of two of its engineers as 2017 national award recipients. The Society of American Military Engineers, which leads collaborative efforts to identify and resolve national security infrastructure-related challenges, selected Laureen Borochaner, chief of Engineering Division at the District, as the 2017 Wheeler Medal Award Winner. The U.S. Army Engineer Regiment selected Dan Blaydes as the 2017 Engineer Regiment Civilian of the Year Award recipient.

    The University of North Florida and the Jacksonville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) today signed an Memorandum of Understanding between UNF and USACE establishing the basis for mutual understanding and cooperation in the STEM subject areas — math, science, engineering and technology—for purposes of developing student scientists and engineers.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District’s south Puerto Rico resident engineer, Pablo Vázquez-Ruiz, was recently elected president of the Ponce Chapter of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico (CIAPR in Spanish acronym) as well as treasurer of the College of Engineers and Surveyors of Puerto Rico.
