SARASOTA -- SARASOTA, Fla. – Nov. 14 is the final day to sign up for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Operation Blue Roof, which provides free temporary roofing for eligible homeowners impacted by Hurricane Milton in 25 Florida counties.
The 25 eligible counties are Brevard, Citrus, Charlotte, DeSoto, Flagler, Hardee, Hernando, Highlands, Hillsborough, Indian River, Lake, Manatee, Martin, Okeechobee, Orange, Osceola, Palm Beach, Pasco, Pinellas, Polk, Sarasota, Seminole, St. Lucie, Sumter, and Volusia Counties.
Interested homeowners can sign-up for FREE until midnight, November 14 at BlueRoof.gov or by phone, toll-free at 1-888-766-3258, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. through November 14.
Homeowners apply for blue roof assistance by completing a Right of Entry (ROE) form. The ROE is a legal document that allows USACE workers and the roofing contractors permission to access the homeowners’ roofs.
The first blue roofs were installed October 16 in Sarasota County, since then 7,141 have been installed across all 25 Florida counties as of November 13, with 7,731 validated ROEs.
USACE administers Operation Blue Roof for the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to provide temporary roofing consisting of fiber-reinforced plastic sheeting until permanent repairs can be made.
