Jacksonville District, City of St. Augustine to host public scoping meeting Feb. 22, 2023, to present overview of St. Augustine Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management Feasibility Study

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, will conduct a public scoping meeting Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, to present, discuss and gather public comment regarding its recently initiated planning for a City of St. Augustine Back Bay Coastal Storm Risk Management (CSRM) Feasibility Study.

To be conducted in partnership with the City of St. Augustine, the meeting will focus on potential measures to manage projected sea level rise, coastal storm damages, flooding, inundation, erosion and wave attack, which threaten infrastructure and contribute to public safety hazards.

The meeting will be held in the City Commission Meeting Room inside the Lightner Museum, 75 King Street, St. Augustine, Florida, from 6-8 p.m. No reservation is necessary. The public is urged to attend if possible, in order to share their insights and concerns for consideration in the study. The program will include introductions and informal conversation to followed by Corps of Engineers and City staff presentations, and time to discuss pertinent issues with the study team.

Information provided by the public will be consolidated in the process of defining issues and concerns to be addressed in the study analysis in compliance with the National Environmental Protection Act.

Public comment will also be collected via email at CESAJ-St.AugBackBayCSRM@usace.army.mil and via U.S. Postal Service at the address below. Submissions must be received by March 10, 2023, to be eligible for consideration.
