The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces a Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) Project Delivery Team Meeting regarding the announcement of our optimized lake schedule model run, scheduled for Tuesday, November 16, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
“On November 16, we will announce the optimized lake schedule model run, which will serve as the framework for the new operational plan” said LOSOM Project Manager Tim Gysan. “However, there is still a lot more work to do, and we ask everyone to continue to stay engaged with us. We will continue developing and evaluating the operational guidance that accompanies the schedule and will bring the two pieces together with the rollout of the final preferred alternative lake operational plan in mid-December, and your feedback is critical as we move through these next steps.”
“The model run we announce on Tuesday will guide us in writing the water control plan, and it will inform the Environmental Impact Statement we have been preparing for the tribal, agency and public review periods required by the National Environmental Protection Act,” said Gysan. “The release of the draft EIS for public comment is scheduled for April 2022, the release of a final EIS by October of 2022, and a Record of Decision in January of 2023, so that we have the plan ready to implement as soon as the Herbert Hoover Dike Rehabilitation is complete.”
The Project Delivery Team (PDT) members include only the federal officials and elected officers of state, local or tribal governments or their designated employees with authority to act on their behalf acting in their official capacities.
Members of the public (PUBLIC) are welcome to attend the government agency PDT meeting and provide comment during the designated Public Comment periods.
