USACE schedules virtual public meetings for Port Everglades

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District, in partnership with Broward County’s Port Everglades, will conduct virtual public meetings regarding the Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement (SEIS) currently available for review and comment. 

USACE has scheduled two virtual public meetings for January 21, 2021.  The first will start at 3 p.m. (EST) while the second is scheduled to start at 6 p.m.  The meetings will feature a brief presentation on proposed improvements for the Port and information on how members of the public can submit comments.  USACE will present the same information at both meetings. 

Pre-registration is required to attend.  Those interested should register for the meeting as soon as possible:

  • Upon registration, a link will be emailed that will provide access to the meeting, including phone numbers and a unique Attendee ID for the event. 

     

    The draft SEIS was released for public review and comment December 17, 2020.  The document updates previous evaluations of potential effects to the environment, including data that wasn’t included in the original environmental impact statement for the project that was finalized in 2016.  The draft SEIS and appendices are available on the USACE Jacksonville District website at https://www.saj.usace.army.mil/About/Divisions-Offices/Planning/Environmental-Branch/Environmental-Documents/ under the section labeled “Broward County.

    USACE will accept comments on the draft SEIS until February 1, 2021.  Those interested in providing feedback are encouraged to submit comments by email to PortEverglades@usace.army.mil.  USACE will also accept comments submitted by mail to the following address:
