The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces a Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) Listening Session scheduled for Monday, March 21, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. We request that any written feedback be provided via email to LakeOComments@usace.army.mil by noon on Monday, March 21.

“We released the working draft of the operational guidance and water control plan for PDT and public review before the start of the March 7 LOSOM Project Delivery Team Meeting,” said LOSOM Project Manager Tim Gysan. “We hope that the team’s presentations, PDT discussion and public comment during that meeting were helpful to all. Our thanks go out to everyone who took the time to attend the meeting, and to those who offered their suggestions and comments. As always, we appreciate and value your continued engagement and feedback. It’s incredibly important to the development of these draft documents, and to the final operational guidance and water control plan, which will be used to inform our water management decisions for years to come.”

“During the Listening Session on March 21, we’d like to hear from members of the PDT and the public who have had a chance to review the proposed language for the draft operational guidance and water control plan and would like to share their feedback with us,” said Gysan. “Members of the PDT and public are encouraged to provide PowerPoint presentations – in advance, if possible, so we can compile a read-ahead package -- or provide verbal comments. We will also host several public comment periods throughout the listening session, so we can hear from everyone who would like to provide feedback. We want to hear from you and integrate your comments into the draft Environmental Impact Statement and Water Control Plan, which we hope to release for formal public NEPA review and comment mid-May of this year.”

The Project Delivery Team (PDT) members include only the federal officials and elected officers of state, local or tribal governments or their designated employees with authority to act on their behalf acting in their official capacities.

Members of the public (PUBLIC) are welcome to attend the government agency PDT meeting and provide comment during the designated Public Comment periods.
