  • Corps seeks comments on proposed LORS deviation

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District is seeking comments to a draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) related to proposed changes to the Lake Okeechobee Regulation Schedule (LORS) 2008 that will provide the agency additional water management flexibility at Lake Okeechobee to help address harmful algae blooms (HABs) to the best of its authority. Comments will be accepted for 15 days from Aug. 6 to Aug. 21, 2019.

  • Corps’ dredge Murden to emergency dredge shoaling in Martin County

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ dredge Murden arrived in Martin County Aug. 1 to dredge a problematic shoal creating a safety concern within the Crossroads reach of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW). The Corps requests recreationists slow down and use caution in this construction area. The Crossroads reach is where three federal channels come together -- the IWW, the Okeechobee Waterway and the St. Lucie Inlet.

  • Corps releases East Lake Toho Drawdown and Habitat Restoration Final EIS for public comment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District released the East Lake Tohopekaliga Drawdown and Habitat Enhancement (East Lake Toho) Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) for public comment. Public comments are due by September 3, 2019.

  • Corps announces LOSOM project team meetings and public workshops

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, announced today the planned schedule for Project Delivery Team meetings supporting the development of the new Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) and a series of workshops to provide the public with information about the ongoing efforts to update water management guidelines for the lake which integrate additional projects that will be coming online in 2022.

  • Corps awards Intracoastal Waterway, Matanzas dredging contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a maintenance dredging contract today (July 29, 2019) for portions of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) in St. Johns and Flagler counties. The Corps awarded the $5,898,389.00 small business set aside contract to Southwind Construction Corporation of Evansville, Indiana.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers hosts job fair in Clewiston

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will host a job fair next week in Clewiston as the organization seeks to fill multiple positions in south Florida. The event will take place Thursday, August 1, from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ South Florida Operations Office at 525 Ridgelawn Road, Building SF-2, Classroom 525, Clewiston, Florida.

  • Corps renews partnership with Florida’s Silver Jackets

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ Jacksonville District is renewing its partnership with Florida’s Silver Jackets through the signing of a new charter that will guide the team moving forward. The charter establishes the expectations for implementation of the Silver Jackets Team for the State of Florida.

  • Project Partnership Agreement signed for Flagler County Coastal Storm Risk Management Project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District and Flagler County finalized a project partnership agreement July 23 at the Flagler County Commission Chambers for construction of the Flagler County Coastal Storm Risk Management Project in Flagler Beach, Fla. – a project expected to reduce annual storm damage costs, protect the areas major hurricane evacuation route, and provide critical habitat for threatened and endangered species.

  • Corps to host outreach event at Fort Zachary Taylor

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corps) Jacksonville District will be available at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park near the concession area, Tuesday, July 30 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. to provide information and respond to questions about its Remedial Investigation/Feasibility Study of the Fort Taylor Formerly Used Defense Site.

  • Corps accepts comments on recommended plan for section 14 project in Loiza, Puerto Rico

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). Jacksonville District announces the opening of public comment for the Continuing Authorities Program Section 14 project in Parcela Suarez, Loíza,Puerto Rico. Public comments regarding the 2019 preferred alternative will be accepted through August 14, 2019.
