1. DESCRIPTION

There are two active Dredge Material Disposal Facilities (DMDFs) associated with Jacksonville Harbor, Bartram Island and Buck Island. Bartram Island is used for placement of Federal and Non-Federal dredged material that is unsuitable for beneficial reuse. Buck Island is used for construction grade material which has beneficial uses and can be offloaded via roadway.

4. STATUS
There are no active dike raising contracts at this time. Placement into these locations continues on an annual basis in support of the Jacksonville Harbor federal channel operations & maintenance. The material in Buck Island is reused through regional sediment management for various road construction projects in Jacksonville.
