1. DESCRIPTION
Manatee Harbor is located in Tampa Bay, Manatee County on the West Coast of Florida. The existing project provides for Federal maintenance of an existing 40 foot deep by 400 foot wide entrance channel and basin. The entrance channel extends approximately 3 miles from the turning basin to its intersection with the Tampa Harbor Main channel. The primary benefits of the project are expected to be derived by eliminating or reducing navigational restrictions and inefficiencies; also provides an opportunity to reduce the risk of adverse environmental impacts from a new project or protect or improve environmentally sensitive areas in the vicinity of the Federal project through potential beneficial uses of dredged material.
