1. DESCRIPTION

Congress authorized the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) C-111 Spreader Canal Western Project (C-111 SC W) project in the Water Resources Reform Development Act of 2014. The project includes a 6-mile hydraulic ridge adjacent to Everglades National Park to keep more of the natural rainfall and water flows within Taylor Slough. The hydraulic ridge is made up of a 590-acre aboveground detention area in the Frog Pond area, using two 225 cubic-feet-per-second pump stations, and integrating other project features.

4. STATUS

In February 2012, SFWMD completed construction of the C-111 Spreader Canal Western Project features as part of its state-expedited program via a Pre-Partnership Credit Agreement. SFWMD continues to monitor operations to support the project real estate requirements. The Corps and SFWMD plan to complete a Project Partnership Agreement in 2025 for cost-share crediting of the constructed features and real estate in 2026.
