The purpose of this study is to address protection of critical infrastructure, reduction of structure damages, and evacuation route protection in response to the risks and effects of coastal storms and associated impacts such as sea level rise, storm surge, and extreme wind and tidal effects.   


Project is funded under P.L. 115-123: Bi-Partisan Budget Act of 2018, Supplemental. Project is brokered to Norfolk District (NAO). NAO manages the project to include the funding and financial data.

This study started its official three year timeline in October 2018 and will conclude with a Chief’s report in September 2021. A successful Tentatively Selected Plan (TSP) Milestone meeting was held on 16 January 2020 resulting in an approval of the TSP identified by the Norfolk District. The Agency Decision Milestone was held in October 2020 resulting in an approval of the recommended plan identified by Norfolk District. The district completed District Quality Control (DQC) review of the final report in February and is currently working on the Agency Technical Review (ATR) of the final report which is scheduled to conclude early April 2021. Following ATR, the final report will be submitted to the MSC for the legal and policy compliance review before being released for the final public and state and agency review. The Chief's Report is scheduled to be signed n 2 September 2021.
