A view of Lake Guajataca, it is a reservoir that was created in 1929 after the installation of the Guajataca Dam. The lake receives flow from the Guajataca River and can it supplies water to the inhabitants of northwestern Puerto Rico. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Autoridad de Energía Eléctrica (AEE) inspect the Guajataca Dam after the passing of Hurricane Fiona. Guajataca Dam is one of the 37 dams around the Island. USACE and AEE are partners to ensure that structures such as the Guajataca Dam are monitored and inspected as a part of our overall Dam Safety program. Life safety is our number one priority.
