– A sign directing residents needing to sign up for Operation Blue Roof points to a Right of Entry center operating out of a Corps’ Deployable Tactical Operation System located in Monroe County in Florida. In disaster areas, Operation Blue Roof is a program for homeowners who have damage to their roofs. The program sends licensed contractors out to homes to cover the damage with fiber-reinforced plastic sheeting until residents can arrange repairs. (U.S. Army photo by Mark Rankin)

The CURRITUCK hopper dredge is a vessel within the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ maritime fleet based out of Wilmington, North Carolina. This vessel works in the shallow-draft ocean bar channels along the Atlantic coast. In addition to removing dredged material from the channel, the CURRITUCK can transport the material to the downdrift beach and deposit it in the surf zone to nourish sand-starved beaches.
