• USACE requests RSVPs for in-person BBSEER Project Delivery Team Meetings on Oct. 26 and 27, with a virtual option

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District requests RSVPs for two back-to-back in-person Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meetings for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Project study on Wednesday, October 26, and Thursday, October 27, 2022, at the FAU Davie Campus at 3200 College Avenue, Davie, Florida, 33314. There will also be a virtual option available for those unable to attend in-person.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Operation Blue Roof program is in full production, installing about 800 blue roofs per day, providing homeowners impacted by Hurricane Ian a temporary solution that protects their property, and allowing them to remain in their home as they continue to recover. The deadline to apply is Oct. 23.

    In the wake of Hurricane Ian and its impact on the region, Jacksonville District has extended the public comment period for its its proposed Finding of No Significant Impact and draft Environmental Assessment for maintenance dredging and dredged material placement for the Miami Harbor Navigation Project at Port Miami, in Miami Dade County, Florida, from Oct. 19 until Nov. 3, 2022.
  • Corps of Engineers seeks public review and comment for proposed maintenance dredging of Sawpit Creek

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, seeks public review and comment on its Environmental Assessment in regard to proposed maintenance dredging of the federally authorized Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway (AIWW) channel, settling basins and advance maintenance areas (AMA) in the waters of Sawpit Creek, the Amelia River and Nassau Sound, Florida. Comments must be received by Nov. 4, 2022, for consideration.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Installs First Blue Roof in Fort Myers

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is announcing the installation of the first Blue Roof in Fort Myers, Oct. 8. The installation is a part of the FEMA assigned Corps-managed Operation Blue Roof program. The program's primary goal is to provide as many storm-damaged eligible roofs with protection from further damage from rain in future storms. Additionally, it seeks to provide residents with a livable house while they recover from the effects of Hurricane Ian.

The IDS provides the roadmap for sequencing, planning, design, construction and operations of both federal and state projects related to Everglades restoration.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers has been tasked by the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to assist eligible homeowners with temporary roof repairs after Hurricane Ian. The Operation Blue Roof program will begin on Oct. 3 to provide a temporary blue covering with fiber-reinforced sheeting to help reduce further damage to property until permanent repairs can be made.

  • USACE awards large, foundational construction contract for CEPP EAA A-2 Reservoir

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), Jacksonville District, awarded the second Corps construction contract for the Central Everglades Planning Project Everglades Agricultural Area (CEPP EAA) Phase Reservoir, a key component of the Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP). This contract is for the Foundation and Cutoff Wall features of the CEPP EAA A-2 Reservoir located in Palm Beach County, Florida.
