  • USACE hosting a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) meeting for the WERP Draft PIR/EIS

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will be hosting a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) meeting for the Western Everglades Restoration Project (WERP) Draft Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement (PIR/EIS) on Jan.17, 2024 from 5:00-8:00 pm at the University of Florida/Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) station, Southwest Florida Research & Education Center, 2685 State Road 29 North in Immokalee, FL. The virtual only meeting will be January 18, 2024 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm. The link and call-in information is listed below. The USACE / South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) team will provide an overview of the project and contents of the Draft Report. An “Open House” style question/answer period will follow the formal comment period where USACE and SFWMD staff will be able to interact with attendees.

  • USACE awards $32.4 million contract for re-nourishment of Duval Co. beaches

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District awarded a $32.4 million contract to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Co., LLC, of Houston, Texas, for re-nourishment of approximately 10 miles of the Duval Co. Atlantic shoreline.

    U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, will begin maintenance dredging of sections of the Okeechobee Waterway and Intracoastal Waterway in the vicinity of St. Lucie Inlet on or about January 3, 2024.

  • USACE celebrates the completion of Caloosahatchee C-43 Reservoir Pump Station

    HENDRY COUNTY, Fla. - (Dec. 19, 2023) The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District (USACE) joined federal, state and local officials to celebrate the completion of a new pump station for the Caloosahatchee (C-43) Reservoir Project today. The C-43 Reservoir, once completed, will hold approximately 170,000 acre-feet of water (55 billion gallons) and is part of the state-federal Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) to restore the environment and make our water resources more resilient.

  • USACE announces public scoping meetings and comment period for Central Everglades Planning Project (CEPP) A-2 Stormwater Treatment Area (A2-STA) Interim Operations Plan

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces public scoping meetings and public comment on the development of a proposed Interim Operations Plan for the CEPP A2-STA. Virtual public meetings are January 11. Public scoping comments are due by January 31.

  • USACE announces availability of WERP draft PIR/EIS available for review and public comment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District announces the opening of public comment on the Western Everglades Restoration Project (WERP) Draft Project Implementation Report and Environmental Impact Statement (PIR/EIS). The purpose of the WERP is to improve the quantity, quality, timing, and distribution of water needed to restore and reconnect the western Everglades ecosystem. Public engagement is encouraged, and comments are due Monday, January 29, 2024.

  • USACE announces virtual BBSEER Project Delivery Team Meeting December 20, 2023

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District invites Project Delivery Team members, stakeholders, partners, and members of the public to attend a virtual Project Delivery Team (PDT) Meeting for the Biscayne Bay and Southeastern Everglades Ecosystem Restoration (BBSEER) Project study on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District announces the availability of the final Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for Caloosahatchee River (C-43) West Basin Storage Reservoir – Reservoir Alum Treatment Project.

  • Combined Operational Plan to lower water levels in WCA-3A

    Following a review of public input, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces the decision on the Environmental Assessment (EA) and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a temporary deviation from the 2020 Combined Operational Plan (COP). The COP is a comprehensive, integrated Water Control Plan (WCP) for the southern portion of the Central & Southern Florida (C&SF) Project – including Water Conservation Area 3A (WCA-3A), Everglades National Park (ENP), and the South Dade Conveyance System (SDCS).
