4. STATUS

The Corps has completed a Dredge Readiness and Operations Plan (DROP) as a planning tool for the 160-mile Gulf Intracoastal Waterway (GIWW), which outlines maintenance dredging locations and anticipated completion timeframes for identified dredging priorities over the next 15 years. The DROP also highlights locations where local inlet dredging with beneficial reuse of material and coupled with local beach nourishment schedules can be optimized. DRSSA funds will be used to complete plans and specifications and award in FY27 for the IWW Manatee County Reach. This reach is one of the top 4 shoaling areas identified in the DROP document. Funds will also be used to complete plans and specifications and award to rehabilitate the southern shoreline bulkhead for Venice Inlet jetty system. This bulkhead was severally damaged from Hurricanes Milton and Helene.
