    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District is accepting public comments on its Draft Programmatic Agreement for the Corps’ operations, navigation and shore protection programs in Florida.

  • Corps posts Manatee County Federal Shore Protection Project Supplemental Environmental Assessment for public review and comment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, is considering design changes to increase the robustness, resiliency and/or reliability of the Manatee County, Florida, Federal Shore Protection Project through minor design refinements, and seeks public comment on a Supplemental Environmental Assessment (SEA).

  • Duval County project recognized as “Best Restored Beach”

    The Duval County Shore Protection Project was recognized today by the American Shore and Beach Preservation Association (ASBPA) as one of the nation’s best restored beaches for 2019. Actually, the project includes four county beaches that were recognized: Atlantic, Neptune and Jacksonville beaches, and Hannah Park, too!

  • Corps awards Gasparilla Island shore protection contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces a contract award that will reduce risks to landside infrastructure on Gasparilla Island in Lee County. The Corps anticipates it will take about two months to complete the project, which is scheduled to start in late May.

  • Corps moves forward on Lido Key Storm Damage Reduction project

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, has taken another step forward regarding the Lido Key Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction project, specifically finalizing the Environmental Assessment and signing a Finding of No Significant Impact for this project.

  • Corps awards Intracoastal Waterway, Ponce de Leon Inlet dredging contract

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a maintenance dredging contract for portions of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) and the Ponce de Leon Inlet in Volusia County June 15. The Corps awarded the $8.55 million contract to Cavache, Inc. of Pompano Beach Florida. Consolidating these dredging projects is anticipated to result in a cost savings of $1.5 million.

  • Fort Pierce Shore Protection Project progress update

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced that additional sand placement will require dredging operations related to the Fort Pierce Shore Protection Project to continue until May 31 – with demobilization activities occurring into mid-June.

  • Brevard County Shore Protection Project underway

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced Thursday the Brevard County Shore Protection Project is underway. The project will renourish approximately 13.4 miles of shoreline using 1.1 million cubic yards of sand from the Canaveral Shoals Borrow Area II. Contractors will place sand on the North Reach (9.6 miles) and South Reach (3.8 miles). The North Reach is from Cape Canaveral through Cocoa Beach south to the northern end of Patrick Air Force Base. The South Reach includes the towns of Indialantic and Melbourne Beach.

    Hutchinson Island residents and visitors will see work on local beaches this winter that will improve the barrier island’s resiliency to storm events and help reduce risks to infrastructure.

  • Duval County shore protection project restarts next week

    Duval County beach residents and visitors will soon see more work on local beaches that will improve the coastal area’s resiliency and reduce risk to infrastructure. The project will reinitiate next week with the goal of restoring protection features prior to the start of hurricane season, June 1.
