Duval County shore project will reinitiate in the spring

Work on the Duval County Shore Protection Project will continue through Dec. 3 and then reinitiate again in May 2017, said U.S. Army Corps of Engineers officials. The goal remains to restore the protection features.

Duval County shore protection project starts this weekend

Duval County beach residents and visitors will see work start on local beaches this weekend that will improve the coastal area’s resiliency and reduce risk to infrastructure. The Duval County Shore Protection Project will place sand on seven miles of eroded beaches, including Jacksonville, Neptune and a portion of Atlantic Beach.

Duval County shore protection project starts soon

Duval County beach visitors will soon see work on local beaches that will improve the coastal area’s resiliency and reduce risk to infrastructure. The Duval County Shore Protection Project will place roughly 700,000 cubic yards of sand on seven miles of eroded beaches, including Jacksonville, Neptune and a portion of Atlantic Beach.

Corps awards Duval County shore protection contract

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District awarded a Duval County Shore Protection construction contract June 28 to Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company, LLC of Oak Brook, Illinois, for $13,572,170.

Public invited to comment on the St. Johns County draft shoreline study

Corps hosts Dade County shore protection public meetings in Miami Aug. 25, Hobe Sound Aug. 26 and Fort Pierce Sept. 2

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District, invites the public to provide comments on the draft Environmental Assessment and draft Finding of No Significant Impact for the Identification of Alternative Sand Sources for the Remaining Period of Federal Participation, Dade County Beach Erosion Control and Hurricane Protection Project. The Corps will host public meetings in Miami Aug. 25, Hobe Sound Aug. 26 and Fort Pierce Sept. 2.

Corps invites comment on Lido Key Beach sand source draft environmental assessment

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the availability of the draft Finding of No Significant Impact and Draft Environmental Assessment of additional sand sources for the Lido Key Hurricane and Storm Damage Reduction Project in Sarasota County. The Corps’ preferred alternative includes the use of material from the Big Sarasota Pass ebb shoal for placement on 2.4 miles of Lido Beach shoreline.

Venice Beach renourishment to resume

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers anticipates sand placement on Venice Beach to tentatively resume Mar. 8-9, weather permitting. The shore protection project was temporarily delayed by a mechanical problem Feb. 15 that caused the shutdown of dredging operations.

Venice Beach renourishment halted due to mechanical problem

Jacksonville, Fla. – Sand placement on Venice Beach is temporarily delayed by a mechanical problem that’s caused the shutdown of dredging operations, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today. Dredging is tentatively scheduled to resume in early March.
