CERP Monitoring and Assessment Plan

The Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) Monitoring and Assessment Plan (MAP) is an integrated system-wide monitoring and assessment plan that: (1) provides a framework that supports measurement of system-wide responses in order to determine how well CERP is achieving its goals and objectives; and (2) supports and enables adaptive management for updating and improving CERP when needed. Please email CESAJ-RECOVER@usace.army.mil to request a copy of the CERP MAP (2009).

Updating the CERP Monitoring and Assessment Plan

In 2024, RECOVER initiated a review of the current CERP MAP (2009) to develop an update that would be informed by new information gained since 2009, including revisions to the conceptual ecological models, hypothesis clusters, and individual monitoring components. This review was comprised of two parts: A) a statistical review of the rigor of the current monitoring design for key indicators (e.g. wading birds, prey forage, and vegetative communities); and B) information gained from new science since 2009, as described by updated conceptual ecological models and hypothesis clusters. The result of the CERP MAP Review, Part B is a set of recommendations which represent the parsimonious set of metrics that need to be monitored to determine if CERP is meeting its goals and objectives:

CERP Monitoring and Assessment Plan Update

RECOVER is in the process of updating the CERP MAP to incorporate their recommendations. This updated CERP MAP will include the latest scientific information and will continue to provide an assessment of the system-wide responses to CERP implementation. Please email CESAJ-RECOVER@usace.army.mil to sign up for updates on the CERP MAP including to be notified of the Public and Agency Review and Comment Period scheduled for early 2027.
