  • Corps breaks ground on reservoir for Everglades project

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, alongside federal, state and local officials, celebrated the start of a major construction contract today for the reservoir component of the C-44 Reservoir and Stormwater Treatment Area project, a critical restoration project to restore America’s Everglades.

  • Corps to reduce flows from Lake O to Caloosahatchee

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District will make a slight reduction in flows for its next pulse release to the Caloosahatchee Estuary scheduled to begin tomorrow. The Corps announced today the new target for the Caloosahatchee Estuary will average 650 cubic feet per second (cfs) over the next 14 days as measured at W.P. Franklin Lock (S-79) near Fort Myers.

  • Water operations field test begins in Everglades

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – As progress continues to be made in restoring America’s Everglades, an incremental water operations field test has been initiated to take a deeper look at what operational refinements are possible to provide additional ecological benefits to the Everglades ecosystem. The first increment of the G-3273 and S-356 Pump Station Field Test (Increment 1) started today. The test aims to increase flows to Everglades National Park and is the result of a collaborative effort between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, U.S. Department of the Interior and the State of Florida.

  • Clean Water Act case settled between the U.S. and Juan Carlos Sainz

    A Miami-Dade County homebuilder, Juan Carlos Sainz, has been required to pay a $45,000 civil penalty and repay $222,482.96 plus $30,276 in interest to settle alleged violations of the Clean Water Act.
