  • Corps announces updated schedule for Ponce de Leon Inlet maintenance

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces holiday schedule changes to maintenance dredging of Ponce de Leon Inlet and pumping sediment to the near-shore of New Smyrna Beach in Volusia County. The near-shore work naturally nourishes the beach via wave action, which then helps reduce risk to landside infrastructure.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers will dredge a problematic shoal located within the Crossroads reach of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) in Martin County starting this week and ending work in mid-July.

  • Intracoastal Waterway maintenance dredging at Bakers Haulover starts soon

    Bal Harbor Beach to benefit from problematic shoal! A U.S. Army Corps of Engineers maintenance dredging project within the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) Bakers Haulover area will start as early as Nov. 18. According to Corps IWW Project Manager Shelley Trulock, the Bakers Haulover reach is one of the top three shoaling areas along the entire IWW. "We have an opportunity to dredge the IWW and put sand on eroded beaches in Miami-Dade County at no cost to the local communities,” she said.

  • Indian River IWW maintenance dredging starts in January

    Navigation maintenance dredging of the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) Indian River Reach 1 in the Indian River Lagoon will start in early January. In addition to improving navigation safety, the dredging will also provide significant environmental benefits by removing muck from the federal navigation channel.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers awarded a maintenance dredging contract for the Intracoastal Waterway (IWW) Indian River Reach 1,which includes Sebastian Inlet south to the Wabasso Causeway in the Indian River Lagoon, Indian River County. Construction may begin as soon as early November.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announced today that the Chief of Engineer’s Report has been approved and signed for the Jacksonville Harbor (Mile Point) Navigational Study.
