  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers publishes Finding of No Significant Impact for the Lake Istokpoga Temporary Deviation

    (Mar. 13, 2026) – The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District (Corps) has prepared a National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Environmental Assessment (EA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the expedited planned, temporary deviation from the 2016 Lake Istokpoga Regulation Schedule. The proposed planned, temporary deviation is being pursued to allow continued water supply releases from Lake Istokpoga when the lake stages drop below the existing Zone B, due to drought conditions observed this dry season, to meet downstream water supply needs within the Indian Prairie Basin, including deliveries to the Seminole Tribe of Florida.

  • USACE South Atlantic Division Commander Signs LOSOM Record of Decision

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Brig. Gen. Daniel Hibner, Commander, South Atlantic Division, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, signed the Lake Okeechobee System Operating Manual (LOSOM) Record of Decision (ROD) on Monday, completing the final step in the approval process to allow Jacksonville District to implement LOSOM in place of Lake Okeechobee Regulation Schedule 2008 (LORS08) for the management of Lake Okeechobee.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Jacksonville District announces the opening of public comment on the Environmental Assessment (EA) and proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for a planned, temporary deviation from the 2020 Combined Operational Plan (COP). The COP is a comprehensive, integrated Water Control Plan (WCP) for the southern portion of the Central & Southern Florida (C&SF) Project – including Water Conservation Area 3A (WCA-3A), Everglades National Park (ENP), and the South Dade Conveyance System (SDCS). Public engagement is encouraged, and comments are due Monday, November 6.

  • U.S. Army Corps of Engineers announces emergency permitting procedures following Hurricane Idalia

    JACKSONVILLE, Fla.—The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announced that it received authority to issue alternative/emergency permitting procedures in response to conditions resulting from Hurricane Idalia. These alternate procedures will be effective for a six-month period, through March 3, 2024.     The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Jacksonville District announces a 30-day public comment period for the Draft Environmental Assessment (EA) and Proposed Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the approval of construction of an aluminum sulfate (alum) treatment system during the construction of the authorized C-43 West Basin Storage Reservoir (WBSR) in Hendry County, Florida. The Corps is evaluating the request from the South Florida Water Management District (SFWMD) to modify the C-43 WBSR Federal Civil Works project pursuant to 33 U.S.C. 408. Comments are due June 5, 2023.
