  • Corps posts Miami Harbor channel-side assessment

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Jacksonville District announces the release and posting of the Miami Harbor Deepening Project one-year post-construction assessment for hard-bottom middle and outer reef benthic communities. The report includes data relevant to an assessment of temporary and permanent project effects at channel-side sites as per the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) permit conditions for construction.

    The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers asks boaters to slow down and use extra caution within the Mile Point construction area on the St. Johns River. “We’ve seen some close calls here on the water because people are speeding through the area,” said Corps Construction Project Engineer Mike Lyons, Jacksonville District.
  • Mile Point: New flow-way open to boaters

    A new flow-way is now open in Chicopit Bay on the St. Johns River, and boaters there are helping the Mile Point construction crew by remaining alert in the busy construction area. Restoring the historical flow-way in Chicopit Bay and its connection to the Intracoastal Waterway system is necessary for the Mile Point project, which will improve vessel navigation on the St. Johns River.
